Help recruit a Local Area Coordinator for Boldmere

Birmingham City Council’s “Prevention First” vision is for all our citizens to lead healthy, happy, independent lives within their own homes and communities. To help make this happen, the City Council is now ready to recruit their first Local Area Coordinators. They are starting with three workers in three different parts of the City.

If you live or work in, or are passionate about, Boldmere (Sutton Vesey Ward) we would love your help to find a Local Area Coordinator for Boldmere!

What will it involve?

The people who know local communities best are the people that live there. Therefore, we want to involve local people in recruiting people that work there.

We will have a day where we all come together to interview people who have applied to be your Local Area Coordinator. It will be an opportunity to help us to choose a great person who can be in your community alongside people facing difficult life situations and their families.

It’s also a chance to meet new people in your community, catch up with old friends and help us to choose a great person!

What does a Local Area Coordinator do?

Often when a person feels alone, or in need of support or care, it can be difficult to find support or someone to talk to who has time to listen. Local Area Coordinators work to make things simpler. Based in local communities, they know the local people – those who need help, and those who can offer different types of help. They are easy to find and talk to. Local Area Coordinators don’t provide a formal social care or health service. Instead, they listen, take time to get to know you, ask “what would make a good life for you?”, find practical ways to solve problems, access useful information and choose how best to lead the life you want in your local community.
